MixLess privacy notice

Version 1.0, August 2026. We update this page when practice changes; the current version is always the one published here.

This notice is short because of a design decision rather than an oversight: wherever we could avoid collecting data, we did. Where we do collect it, one free account for downloads, this notice says exactly what is stored and why. Data we never collect cannot leak; data we do collect gets its own section.

The short version

• Downloading uses a free account: your email address is the only personal data it needs, and the plugins themselves never ask you to sign in.
• The plugins run entirely offline and transmit nothing.
• The site uses one strictly necessary sign-in cookie and no tracking or analytics cookies. Essential cookies need no consent banner, so there is none.
• Our host sees your IP address, as every web server does. We do not use it.
• We publish how many times each file is downloaded. The counts are not linked to accounts.
• The newsletter is optional and consent based.

1. The plugins

The plugins are local audio software: they run without an internet connection and transmit nothing from your computer.

This is a design decision as much as a privacy promise: a studio machine should not have to be online to run a plugin it downloaded or paid for. It is also why licence verification, when we introduce paid products, works offline.

The plugins store their own settings and preferences on your computer. Those files stay on your machine and are never sent to us.

2. Your account

Downloading uses a free account, and the record behind it is deliberately small: your email address and the date the account was created.

Sign-in works without a password. We email you a one-time code; the code expires within minutes and is deleted once used. Staying signed in uses one cookie whose only job is recognising your session. It is not used for tracking, and no analytics cookies sit next to it.

We use your email address to operate the account and to send what you ask for: sign-in codes today, licence keys when paid products exist. Nothing else is sent without asking first. Sign-in codes are delivered through an email provider acting as our processor: [to be named before publication, with a data processing agreement].

You can delete the account at any time by writing to the address in section 9, and deletion removes the record entirely. Early-access testers are covered by a separate beta agreement.

3. Download counts

We know how many times each file has been downloaded. We do not know who downloaded it.

The download link increments a counter and sends you to the file. What the counter stores is a number: which file, how many times. It records no IP address and no identifier, and it is not connected to accounts or sessions: we publish how many, never who.

4. Our hosting provider

Our website runs on a hosting provider. Like every web server, theirs processes technical data to deliver pages and to protect the site from abuse, and that includes your IP address.

We do not use that data. We do not analyse it, we do not have it fed into anything, and it is not how the download counter in section 3 works. The provider keeps it only as long as it needs to for delivery and security, and we ask for the shortest retention their service allows.

We say this rather than claiming we hold nothing, because the claim would not be true and a privacy notice that is only nearly true is worth less than one that is plain.

5. The newsletter

Subscribing is entirely optional and is never a condition of downloading anything.

If you subscribe:

• We use your email address only to send the newsletter.
• We do not sell, rent or share it.
• Every message carries an unsubscribe link that works in one click.
• When you unsubscribe, we delete your address.

Our lawful basis is your consent. You can withdraw it at any time, and doing so does not make our earlier messages unlawful.

6. Purchases

This section describes what will happen when we release paid products. Today we sell nothing.

Paid products will be sold through a merchant of record. Payment details never reach us: we do not see or store card data.

What we will receive from them and keep is four fields: your email address, your licence serial number, an order reference and a date. Our lawful basis is performance of the contract, because we need those to deliver your licence, support you, and reissue the licence if that ever becomes necessary. We keep that record for as long as the licence lasts.

7. Your rights

You have the right to ask what data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to object to our processing it. For the newsletter, withdrawing consent takes one click.

8. Changes

If this notice changes, the current version is published on our site. Newsletter subscribers are told separately about significant changes.
